Worry Boxes are one of the most iconic crafts in Guatemala, with a rich tradition that has endured through the centuries. Handcrafted by skilled Guatemalan artisans, these small, colorful boxes are not only decorative objects, but are deeply linked to a cultural tradition that promises to alleviate the worries and sorrows of those who possess them.
In many Mayan communities, the boxes are believed to have a spiritual connection to loved ones or the universe, acting as a vehicle to transform negative emotions into positive energy. It is also said that if a person has a major worry, they can place it in the little box and leave it there for a while, trusting that the box will help “dissolve” those problems.
Each of these boxes contains 6 worry dolls.
